The VAT Evaluation Committee was established by Minister of Finance and Planning Stanley Raghoebarsing on Thursday, July 27, 2023. This committee was created as a result of the VAT Act, or Added Value Tax Act, which went into effect on January 1, 2023. A committee has been decided upon for the implementation, supervision, and assessment of this new tax law.

The Committee consists of representatives of the business community, the trade union movement, the Central National Audit Office, the Federation of Tax Advisers and the government. The committee has been established for a period of six months. The nomination of the Federation of Tax Advisers is still awaited. The final report of this committee is presented by the Minister of Finance & Planning to The National Assembly, DNA, for further discussion.
