On December 22, 2021, the IMF Executive Board approved the financial support program for Suriname under the name of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) worth US$688 million.
This is a 36-month package. This financial arrangement is intended to support the government’s economic recovery plan. Negotiations are currently being held with the IMF to adjust the program on some important points. Suriname has failed to achieve some important objectives with the implementation of the IMF programme.
