The Surinaamsche Waterleiding Maatschappij (SWM) completed essential work in its distribution network during the course of the past weekend, from Saturday, October 14, at 8 p.m., to Sunday, October 15, at 8 p.m., in the vicinity of J.A. Pengelstraat, Henck Arronstraat, Kwattaweg, and the Oude and Nieuwe Charlesburgweg. There may occasionally be no water coming from the tap or only minimal water pressure while these repairs are being made.
However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the William Kraanplein production station had to be temporarily decommissioned on Sunday morning. As a result, several neighborhoods in Greater Paramaribo suffered from low water pressure or even no water from the tap.
Despite the station returning to service around 12:30 p.m., users still experienced low water pressure into the evening hours. After each interruption, it takes some time before the water pressure in the distribution network is stable again.
The water company regrets the situation and apologizes for the inconvenience. She calls on all users in the city and district to be extra economical with the available water during this period of the year.
