The National Army has increased security patrols in Paramaribo, Wanica, Commewijne, and Para neighborhoods. This is done to ensure society’s perception of security.
According to the Ministry of Defense, Army personnel working with the Military Police are conducting this monitoring. “The competent authority’s goal is to maintain the populace’s perception of safety, peace, and order. Criminal activity must be deterred by having soldiers visible on the street, according to Army commander Lt. Col. Ashokkoemar Jagdew.
All resorts will have soldiers present throughout the evening hours. Additionally, there is good communication and cooperation with the police. For this, it is planned to soon deploy more surveillance cars.
