Recently, as part of the International Year of Millet, President Chandrikapersad Santokhi attended an event hosted by the Indian Embassy at the Indian Cultural Center. The head of state observes that millet, once a mainstay of conventional Indian cuisine, is now hardly ever recognized.
This grain has numerous health advantages. It is nutrient-rich, beneficial for diabetes, fortifies the neurological system, guards against cardiovascular disorders, and boosts immunity. The head of state mentioned a great chance to raise interest in this grain among policymakers and enhance knowledge of it. The current and future generations should be made aware of the nutritional and health benefits, according to President Santokhi. He commended the Indian government for its efforts to promote millet and have 2023 declared the International Year of Millet.
