The Traffic Department of the Suriname Police Corps held an information day for the reintroduction of the traffic sergeants. The information day is organized for the upcoming traffic sergeants and their parents/guardians. The whole thing took place in the Police Training Center. Where 125 children participated.

The traffic sergeant project has been suspended for three years, partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Traffic department picks up the thread again and informed the parents and children who are interested in what exactly the task entails and about the process of becoming a traffic sergeant. After the information day, the children are trained during the big vacation so that they could learn the work of a traffic sergeant. When the training is finished the new traffic sergeants can start performing their duties at the beginning of the new school year.

Sub-inspector Creton of the Traffic Department indicated that training has started this year for fourth graders who will move on to fifth grade. In the past, children from the fifth grade of primary school could become traffic sergeants.
