The month of fasting teaches us to collectively fight hunger and express solidarity with those who struggle to start the day with a good meal, according to President Chan Santokhi, who makes this statement in his speech in connection with the Eid-ul-Fitr day. The lesson that should be of interest to the entire country is that a difficult circumstance is not always present. As a group, we shall celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr today and return to enlightenment, adds Santokhi.

As we all celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr today, we will eventually return to enlightenment. Like fasting, it does call for all of us to develop steadfastness, patience, and endurance. The person will feel that life is difficult. But any societal issue may be resolved if we work as a single people. Every aspect of society, including the government as well as customers, traders, producers, service providers, and financial institutions, will need to contribute to this.

According to President Santokhi, Suriname is not a divided nation and that people here value, accept, and tolerate one another because of the numerous religious holidays. “As citizens of this nation, we should be grateful to God for all of his kindness toward us. This enables us to more effectively work toward the Surinamese people’s moral and spiritual advancement. Because living as a single people should not be hampered by differences of opinion. And this is what makes our Suriname so unique among all countries in the world, says President Santokhi.
