With the education of 50 extension officers, who are trained in all elements of passion fruit agriculture, the passion fruit industry in Coronie and Nickerie is anticipating a comeback. Project Strengthening of Minor Food Crop Production of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries is the subject of this letter (LVV). Within this project, 10 experimental gardens will be built in collaboration with farmers. Yesterday was the start of the two-day training.

In Coronie and Nickerie, passion fruit farming is projected to rebound. The passion fruit business in Coronie and Nickerie is hoping for a resurgence thanks to the training of 50 extension officers who are knowledgeable in every aspect of passion fruit agriculture. This letter is about the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries’ Project Strengthening of Minor Food Crop Production (LVV). Ten experimental gardens will be constructed as part of this initiative in coordination with farmers. The two-day training session got underway yesterday.

Jagroep claims that this initiative will also contain the research component. Three distinct varieties of passion fruit will be brought in with the help of Brazilian experts in order to determine which version is ideal for the nation. According to the information provided by LVV, a unit would be established up to process the passion fruit, ensuring sales for producers.
