On December 22, 2022, Minister Steven Mac Andrew of Labor, Employment, and Youth Affairs (AWJ) received Nicolas de Bouillane de Lacoste, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic, for a cordial visit. On this occasion, the minister gave the ambassador a general explanation of the ministry’s labor, employment, and youth policies.

Following that, the parties discussed potential areas of focus and cooperation. The key areas for AWJ are encouraging decent work for all citizens, boosting productivity, labor protection, bolstering the Labor Inspectorate, promoting employment and small business, and building the social and economic resilience of disadvantaged and at-risk adolescents. For the upcoming year, youth participation, vocational training, and mental toughness/health are crucial areas of focus. The parties will keep in touch to discuss how to carry out a potential collaboration.
