lees ook ...

Recently, messages have been launched in the media that stated that there are doubts about the independence and/or impartiality of the Public Prosecution Service (OM). This has been noticed by the Public Prosecution Service in Suriname.

One of these people that launched such a message is NDP Vice-Chairman Jennifer Geerlings-Simons. At a party executive meeting in Ocer, Geerlings-Simons would have indicated that there are doubts about the independence of the judiciary.

And now that the Public Prosecution Service has observed that recently reports have been launched in the media, in which there are doubts about the independence and/or impartiality of the Public Prosecution Service (OM),  the Public Prosecution Service wishes to indicate, that on the basis of Article 145 of the Surinamese Constitution, it is responsible for investigating and prosecuting criminal offenses to the exclusion of any other body.

Finally, the Public Prosecution Service makes an urgent appeal to society to be informed by the Public Prosecution Service if there is any uncertainty with regard to its actions.
