We will have a new international airport in the west of the nation if all goes as planned. In relation to the construction of an international airport in Nickerie, Herman Torres, the chief financial officer of West Air Aviation, gave President Chan Santokhi a proposal on Saturday.
Given the advancements in the gas and oil industries as well as the requirement for an international hub function in the area, this international airport will have added value.
The results of the initial investigation indicate that the proposed designs can be implemented at the site of Nickerie’s current airport. This international airport can handle both freight and passenger traffic and will be constructed as needed.
