The criminal investigation of the accused Ashwin Adhin continued on July 20, 2023. The case was still open for rebuttal and the defendant’s final statement. Counselors Chandra Algoe and Irvin Kanhai are assisting the suspect. First to speak was Counsel Kanhai. He persevered in his plea and urged the prosecution to drop all charges against the defendant.
Attorney Algoe then outlined her rebuttal. She continued to argue against the summons that she had earlier presented in the plea, asking the court to rule that the Public Prosecution Service was inadmissible. She also maintained her earlier request for the suspect to be cleared of all charges.
In his last word, suspect Adhin asked the Court to restore his honour. On Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 10 a.m., a decision will be made in this case, according to the Court of Justice.
Adhin is accused of, among other things, unlawfully destroying, damaging or rendering unusable video and photo equipment together and in association. Also the falsely formatting or falsification of a document, which is intended as proof that the goods were no longer usable for the service and could therefore be written off. He would have deliberately misappropriated equipment.
