On November 18, 2022, President Chandrikapersad Santokhi established the Mofina Movement. Working under the direction of Franklin Todie, the movement seeks to provide disadvantaged members of society with equitable opportunity. The movement is required by the head of state to aid neighborhood initiatives. On November 29, 2022, the group, which has 15 members, engaged in a variety of performances at Huize Ashiana.
According to Todie, after speaking with the care home’s director, work was started right away to alleviate some of the problems. Together with members of the National Army and staff members from the Public Greenery Directorate, trees have been pruned and large amounts of rubbish have been removed. He adds that the environment has been improved for the elderly residents of the care facility and that bug control measures have also been taken.
The group is prepared with many projects. This includes an initiative where students who drop out of school too soon will be helped to become employable. We’ll also work to fix broken playground equipment and overgrown playgrounds in local communities.
