In the context of the preliminary discussions leading up to the national dialogue, former presidents Chan Santokhi and Jules Wijdenbosch also discussed their perspectives with President Ramsewak Shankar. On Wednesday, the previous heads of state showed up at the presidential palace with Santokhi, who had invited them.
Both Wijdenbosch and Shankar looked back on the meeting with satisfaction. They contend that the topics that have been discussed are crucial to the future and progress of the nation.
Wijdenbosch, a past president, stated, “It doesn’t end with this meeting.” He notes that there has been more talk on how the national dialogue will be organized and what factors are crucial in its preparation. Additionally, private topics were also discussed, with which the former president claims to be really happy.
