Prenobe Bissessur is not permitted to leave the country. He was arrested last night while he was leaving for Miami. It was made to understand that this was done on behalf of the Public Prosecution Service. He was arrested at Johan Adolf Airport by the Judicial Intervention Team.
The Public Prosecution Service has officially launched a criminal investigation into irregularities at the Surinamese Aviation Company and the Energiebedrijven Suriname. President Chan Santokhi has thanked Bissesur as his adviser. And he has been removed from all committees.
Bissessar is not allowed to leave the country pending the investigation. His passport has been confiscated but he has no status as a suspect yet. After a short interrogation, he was allowed to leave. However he must remain available.
