At the Frederick Douglass Memorial Hall in Washington, DC, President Dr. Irfaan Ali recently met with community members from Howard University, including the university’s president, Ben Vinson.
Along with other members of the Caribbean Student Association, the nine Guyanese students Lakeisha Henry, Ryan Duff, Ozioma Scott, Keith Cort, Aliyah Anthony, Moriah Hamilton, Kaeyla Vanderstoop, Kayla Forde, and Amir Ince welcomed the President to the school.
The students were excited about President Ali’s visit which Hamilton described as a great representation for Guyana.
The President addressed the student body as the future leaders who will address important global concerns including artificial intelligence and plans for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions during his keynote speech.
Howard University has a long history with Guyana. Late President Dr. Cheddi Jagan attended the university in the 1930s.
