The tourism and hospitality services sector will need to hire up to 1,000 employees over the course of the next few months, and Vincentians will have access to a variety of employment possibilities as a result. Carlos James, the tourism minister, recently stated this.
According to the minister, MSC Cruise Lines is seeking to hire up to 100 qualified individuals for the tourism services sector and will be in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in October to organize a job fair at the cruise ship terminal.
Sandals will host a job fair from September 26 to the 29, with the possibility of recruiting quite a number of people, possibly up to 800. The job fair is being held at Kingstown Baptist Church from 8 am to 3 pm. Persons have been asked to have the following documents, a copy of a photo government ID, copy of NIS card, resume and two passport-sized photographs.
Minister James said this is going to be one of the game changers for St Vincent and the Grenadines, having close to 1,000 people recruited from the island, right within the tourism services sector.
The minister said within the next few weeks Sandals is also recruiting a number of construction workers, close to 200 additional persons, to complete the hotel at Buccament Bay before their deadline of end of the year.
“We are talking about close to 1,000 persons who will benefit from those employment opportunities,” said James.
